Rarely a day goes by with out at least a full hour of dedicated music research for Shaun. A while back, he discovered an online magazine with a couple of interesting articles featuring interviews with Dragonette and Free Lance Whales. As great as the articles were it was actually some of the photography that caught his eye. There was a photograph of a model sitting on an ETS bus stop. yep. and Edmonton Transit bus stop, with a Jeremy Amyotte Real-estate ad. It was a bus stop from right here at home. On Whyte Ave to be exact. We did a little research and discovered the magazine was 100% written and produced by a young Edmontonion. His name is Willis Hip. He’s an impressively talented, creative and driven young man surrounded by an incredibly supportive group of friends.
Shaun sent him an email mentioning that we’d be interested in trying his hand at some fashion photography for him in the future. Its something new to us, but because of work with bridal portraits, fashion photography has always been an interest of ours and something we’ve enjoyed researching.
Shaun received an email from Willis asking us if we were still interested in shooting for his next Vinyl and Vodka issue on a Friday afternoon. The shoot was for the coming Saturday and Sunday. We were booked with 3 other shoots this weekend, but we jumped at the chance to fit it in. Why not? Its something different, fun and a challenge. Opportunities like these don’t come around like this every day![]()
The first day they spent a couple of hours in the River Valley and the second day they used some studio space at Planet Ze.
Here are some of the images from weekend.
