Edmonton Child Photography – Lanna and Mataya

I first met Lanna when we worked together at MIRA what seems a very long time ago. A lot has changed since then, and she currently has an awesome daughter named Mataya. We went to the park where we had a chance to get some images of the two of them together, and of Mataya alone. It was a very windy day and Mataya was fantastic throughout the entire session. Here are some of the images for you to look at.

Kim’s family was finally all together this past Thanksgiving weekend and they decided to use the opportunity to update their family pictures! We met up with them at Hermitage Park, in our gorgeous river valley knowing it still had an abundance of fall leaves we’d be treated to. Turns out we were also treated to a full hour of laughter. This family was awesome! There was non stop teasing, and ridiculousness. We loved it. Even with all the teasing, it was easy to see how much they appreciated and loved each other. They were easy to photograph as a result.

Sherwood Park Family Photography – The Witten-Land Family

It is obvious that Steph is Beautiful!!! I am blatantly biased, but it is true. She also comes from a very attractive family that specializes in making ridiculously adorable kids. A few years ago, when she was starting out, we did a session with her cousin and it won Steph her first award. This fall, we did a session with Julie and Cam, another of Steph’s Cousins. They have 2 of the cutest kids ever. Amadeus and Nova were extremely easy to photograph, especially in the lovely fall colours of their acreage. Nova was very playful throughout the session and Amadeus was all smiles, dances, and giggles (despite having his first cold). Julie had an amazing chair she wanted to use, a neighbours truck and a few other ideas, but all we needed was this awesome family.

This Family was awesome. Inside and out. We had a great afternoon taking photographs of these ridiculously cute boys and their parents. Shaun had a chance to photograph Hugo when he was just a baby, but now he’s a a big brother to Javier! Hugo had an endless amount of energy, he’d stop for brief moments to squeeze in a hug for Javier, but other than that he was on the go. He’s lucky to have such easy going parents.

Hope and Michel made a baby! – Edmonton Family Photographers

Felix is a bundle of awesomeness. He’s got crazy blue eyes (so crazy, there’s no way they’ll be changing ), a full head of jet black hair and two proud new parents. Hope and Michel! They are more than thrilled with their little man and we were lucky enough to photograph them in their lovely Leduc home last week.

I met Hope in high school. She’s one of the most incredible girls I know. Full of positivity, amazing energy, and excitement. I’ve always been proud to call her my friend… so I can only imagine how lucky Felix is to have her as a mama, and Michel as a papa!

What to Wear? – Edmonton Engagement Photographers

Fall is upon us and to us that means we’re squeezing in as many portrait sessions as possible before the leaves turn completely, and the weather cools off even more. We have a few family portrait sessions coming up as well as a bunch of fun engagement sessions and I wanted to take a minute to share a quick style guide with everyone. One of the most common questions asked before a portrait session is ‘What should we wear?’

Typically I write back with a few notes on the importance of feeling AWESOME in whatever you choose, and about the importance of picking colours from the same colour pallet (It really helps to bring things together for the session), and that I don’t actually mean matching everything exactly.

This year I’ve decided to put out a little style guide to help give some ideas. I’m going to try and continue to do this each season for people to pull ideas from. Hope it helps. Let me know what you think! And if you have any other questions, just ask. We’re happy to help. (Shaun’s actually pretty good at styling…I often need to ask him for advice before heading out )

Rudkowski Family

Marie won a Scade Photography Gift Certificate at a silent auction last fall and decided to use it as a way to update their last family portrait of the kids…. one that had been taken quite a few years back

The first couple of times we tried to meet up for this session, the weather would not cooperate. In fact it poured. Whenever possible we try to shoot in the best possible lighting conditions. We’re happiest when the sun is in it’s final golden hour of the day. Thanks for being so flexible with us.

The Rudkowski’s were easy to photograph. They were warm and friendly from the minute we walked into their home, and you can see that easily in the camera. We enjoyed getting to know you a little bit, and hope you like the result from your session.

Baby Morgan – Newborn Photography Edmonton

Bri and Ryan are good friends with of one of our my friends, Kris. We first met Bri when we were substitute players on her bowling team. A few weeks later we did their maternity session, and then a few weeks after that, Morgan was born. They are an amazing new family. Morgan is extremely precious, and Bri and Ryan are amazing parents. And when the inevitable session accident down daddy’s shirt and onto the floor happened, it didn’t phase anyone. :) We look forward to watching this family grow. Last year we got to photograph Bryn and Jason’s wedding. This year we got to photograph their adorable baby girl Ashlyn. She was super sweet and full of expressions. Bryn and Jason looked good too and it was great to catch up with them. But Ashlyn stole the show. haha. Especially when she sported the cute tutu. Thanks for asking us to photograph your new family!

Janelle and Ben had a baby!

I have had the pleasure of photographing the Zupan family numerous times over the years. When Janelle got engaged to Ben a couple years ago I was happy to photograph their engagement session and excited to shoot their wedding a couple of years ago. I really appreciate getting to know a family through photographing their milestones and subsequently becoming friends with them. This past year I was able to photograph a maternity session with them as well as their newest addition to the family, Larissa Lynn. She was born on December 14, 2010 weighing 7lbs. 4 oz. Congratulations on your adorable little girl.

These wonderful people have been family friends of the Scade’s since… forever.

Cheryl’s father grew up with Gordon and to this day the two and their families remain close friends.

Gord, Shaun and myself went up to Fox Creek where they all now live to spend the weekend with them… and to photograph Cheryl and Clint’s Family. They have a new baby girl, Elli!

Ellison Mary Lynne was born December 21st 2010 weighing 6pounds 12 ounces. Now, at almost 3 months old… She’s super sweet and squish-able ;) She get lots of love from her parents, but also from her older brother Porter, he likes to touch his head to hers just enough to let her know he’s there… and then he’ll run off to play. Porter’s a charmer. He made eyes with me all day. It didn’t bother me… but Shaun sure took note. We spent the afternoon playing and taking pictures of the whole family. It was an excellent way to spend the day. Lifestyle type Photography sessions like this make photographing a family extremely enjoyable. We just get to play and capture the fun.

Out at the Park with the Family – Edmonton Lifestyle Photography

Carol bid on, and won a gift certificate from us at a silent auction a couple of years ago. We met with her energetic family at Kinsmen park last week to play in the park and get some relaxed family portraits. Family sessions are fun for us. We’re able to get a variety of images, so depending on if they are interested in having an album designed or selecting a few large images for a wall collage we can cover it. We had lots of fun chasing her two little ones through the playground and catching their playful smiles on camera.

Random Tip of the Day: To get great expressions from the parents in a family session with a baby – Make ridiculous faces and silly noises. Continually. Even when it has stopped working on the baby.

This is what happened for me with Amanda, Gilbert and Emilie. We were out in a field, Emilie was mesmerized by all the passing cars on the road and had no time for my fun and games. Eventually she’d come around and realize we were also kind of fun to look at. Meanwhile…Gilbert and Amanda couldn’t keep a straight face, we’ve got some great shots of them

Emilie is 7 months old now, full of playful energy, crazy faces, and wonderful smiles from those cute chubby cheeks…Its hard to believe she was under 5lbs when she was born.

Kristin and Chad and miss Hazel – Edmonton Family Photography

I think little Hazel is going to do great things in life. Having wonderfully loving parents will likely help her out… but I say this because of the way she carries herself. She’s very serious, always thinking and always analyzing. At such a young age, she already seems so wise.

We met with Kristin, Chad, Hazel and their puppy Maggie to get some Fall Family Portraits taken this past week. It was a windy day, but Hazel’s adorable hat helped keep her warm. Maggie sported a stylish collar, so as not to be left out.
