A Vinyl and Vodka Weekend – Edmonton Fashion Photography

Rarely a day goes by with out at least a full hour of dedicated music research for Shaun. A while back, he discovered an online magazine with a couple of interesting articles featuring interviews with Dragonette and Free Lance Whales. As great as the articles were it was actually some of the photography that caught his eye. There was a photograph of a model sitting on an ETS bus stop. yep. and Edmonton Transit bus stop, with a Jeremy Amyotte Real-estate ad. It was a bus stop from right here at home. On Whyte Ave to be exact. We did a little research and discovered the magazine was 100% written and produced by a young Edmontonion. His name is Willis Hip. He’s an impressively talented, creative and driven young man surrounded by an incredibly supportive group of friends.

Shaun sent him an email mentioning that we’d be interested in trying his hand at some fashion photography for him in the future. Its something new to us, but because of work with bridal portraits, fashion photography has always been an interest of ours and something we’ve enjoyed researching.

Shaun received an email from Willis asking us if we were still interested in shooting for his next Vinyl and Vodka issue on a Friday afternoon. The shoot was for the coming Saturday and Sunday. We were booked with 3 other shoots this weekend, but we jumped at the chance to fit it in. Why not? Its something different, fun and a challenge. Opportunities like these don’t come around like this every day

The first day they spent a couple of hours in the River Valley and the second day they used some studio space at Planet Ze.

Flashin Fashion photo fun – Edmonton Portrait and Bridal Photography

I was lucky enough to tag along on a photoadventure with some other lovely edmonton photogs last Monday. href=”http://www.fleurishfoto.com/index2.php#/home/”>Blake Loates-Smith, Rachel Johnson, Amanda Dunlop. We had a chance to practice some off camera flash techniques, and experience how others lead their photography shoots. I absorbed so much just being around the postive energy we all shared that morning!

It was a fun and relaxed photoshoot with our beautiful models Kyra, Liz, and Amelia. They didn’t mind being tread through puddles, and muddy allies, or that we made them wait around for us to figure out our lighting ratios and angles.

Here are a few images from my morning.

First up is Kyra! We found the GoRgeOUS couch chilling in the alley all by its lonesome. Any photographers dream find
(oh, and props go to Shaun for this one’s editing. He picked it out as his fav from the session. Thanks)

Here is the BeaUtiFuL Liz – inside and out! (It was great to meet you Liz)
I think there were some pigeons hanging out inside this trailer making crazy noises….not gonna lie, they scared us off shortly after.

Thanks girls for inviting me to come along that day. It was such a good way for me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things with out having the pressure of time weighing me down.
